Let the brick hold the warm light

At the 1903 Mansfield Hotel, Focus Lighting placed small fittings so the facade’s stone, ornament and rhythm could carry the night.

The Mansfield Hotel, built in 1903, got a contemporary facelift that kept its history intact1. Its facade needed subtly placed fittings that would not detract from the formal composition1.

The lighting brings out the colour of the stone, the elaborate masonry and the rhythm of the repeated windows and columns, giving the exterior warmth and sparkle1.

From the project

Look at the photograph for where the light is not: the sky above the cornice is left dark, and the fittings themselves are nowhere to be seen.
