Three layers, one house.

A shingled house at dusk with path lights, porch light, and warm windows across the garden.

Path lights mark the walk, a porch light marks the door, and the rooms behind the glass are the third layer. Add them in that order, and stop when the route feels easy.

From the project

In this Kichler dusk photograph, the lawn stays darker than the path and the interior lamps do work no garden fitting could. Kichler notes that landscape lighting also helps people move safely around decks, patios and entryways at night1.
