An aquarium lit like the sea

For Ocean Wonders: Sharks!, Focus Lighting studied how light behaves underwater and rebuilt it with lamps.

The New York Aquarium’s Ocean Wonders: Sharks! exhibit is designed to spread a message about ocean conservation1. Its lighting tries to create the illusion of complete immersion1.

To get there, Focus Lighting worked with the Wildlife Conservation Society to understand the natural light in each of the environments the exhibit recreates, and then replicated each one with artificial sources1.
