The approach is the welcome.

A residential approach at dusk, with warm uplights on trees and a low path to the front door.

A driveway of small uplights leads the eye to the door without lighting the whole garden. Keep the fittings below eye height and aim them into the foliage, not back toward the street.

From the project

The street view reads as a sequence: lawn edge, lit trees, a low gate, then the entry. Nothing in the frame is a colour wash.

Kichler says homeowners tell it they see landscape lighting as an investment in beauty, safety and entertainment1. The safety part is handled quietly here: the route to the door is obvious from the street.
